Current All School Positions Full-time Position: Dean of Equity and InclusionDeadline to Apply: May 6, 2013 Expected Beginning Date: July 2013  Primary Responsibilities
Articulates the School’s Commitment to Equity, Justice and Inclusion
- Supports and advises students and adults on issues of equity and inclusion.
- Facilitates dialogue related to equity and justice issues among constituents in the school community.
- Demonstrates leadership and best practices for adults to follow when interacting with all students, and continuously engages students to share their perceptions of equity and inclusion.
- Guides the direction and vision of school programs and events that focus on inclusion and equity.
- Directs the Metavasi Program which includes coordinating (teaching) the Athenian Metavasi Program for 2 weeks during the summer.
- Participates in curricular discussions, advocating for pluralistic perspectives in disciplines.
- Provides input to Middle School and Upper School in areas of curriculum development and students activities; participates in Middle and Upper School activities as agreed upon with Middle and Upper School Heads.
- Teaches the equivalent of one class in the Middle School and two seminars Upper School.

 Part-time Position: Director of Learning ServicesExpected Beginning Date: August 1, 2013
Application Deadline: 05/10/13  Position Description:
The Athenian School is seeking a Director of Learning Services to give academic support to students in grades 6-12. This is a 60% position which will report directly to the Heads of Middle and Upper School.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work and consult with teachers on how best to support students, in particular those with gaps in their academic foundation, those who are struggling in particular subject areas, and students with learning differences
- Visit classes both to observe particular students in classroom settings and to provide feedback to teachers about the needs of particular students/types of learners
- Oversee and arrange the logistics for extended time testing and other accommodations both for students’ classes and for standardized testing
- Read and summarize educational evaluations for students with learning differences and make these Personal Learning Plans accessible to faculty
- Share with the faculty, in workshops or faculty meetings, the latest research about learning and adolescent brain development
- Work with the parents of students who are struggling academically on how best to support students at home, and, when necessary, recommend to parents that students be professionally assessed
- Coordinate peer tutoring for those students who find this the most comfortable avenue of accessing help outside of the classroom
Core Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years teaching experience in relevant field is required; master's degree and/or teaching credential is preferred.

Current Upper School Positions One Year Position (with renewal option): Live-In Residential Staff (LRS)Dates: August 20, 2013 – June 8, 2014  Position Description:
The Athenian School Boarding Program is seeking two extraordinary individuals interested in working and living with teenagers in an educational and multicultural environment to serve as dedicated Live-in Residential Staff (LRS), one for the Girls’ Dormitory and one for the Boys’ Dormitory, to manage and supervise the dorm, ensure the safety and academic, social and emotional well-being of the boarding students at all times, and create/provide a warm, positive community experience and a “homelike” atmosphere in the dorm.
Due to the nature of this position, the LRS is required to live in a single room in the dormitory and aid boarding students after hours in emergency.
Primary job expectations:
- Stay overnight in the dorm six out of seven nights a week – actively on call three nights out of the six for urgent student matters. (Specific days TBD but overnight shift is Sun – Thurs, 11:00pm – 7:00am, Fri.: midnight – Sat., 8:00am & Sat.: midnight – Sun., 8:00am) with the exception of one full weekend off every fourth weekend while school is in session as well as several nice breaks throughout the academic year when school is not in session (long weekends and vacations).
- supervise dorm study hours 2.5 nights a week (2 nights, Mon – Wed 7:30pm – 11:00pm and every other Sunday night 5:00pm – 11:00pm)
- attend evening meal 2 nights a week
- Participate in all-community residential events (ie: monthly dinners, residential outings)

The Athenian School is seeking teacher of Spanish in grades 9-12. The position entails teaching three-four sections of Spanish each semester, levels 1 through 4 (depending on department needs). Athenian faculty have additional duties, such as occasional weekend residential duty or community service trips, as well as additional co-curricular activities.
