Athletics
The Athenian School offers a wide range of team and individual sports activities, including baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, tennis, cross-country running, swimming, and wrestling. As a member of the North Coast Section, CIF, and the Middle School Sports League, Athenian has the opportunity to compete in sporting events with other student teams throughout Northern California. Athenian encourages students to participate in athletic activities to develop the body as well as the mind.

Athletics Philosophy
The fundamental purpose of Athenian Athletics is to mirror the mission and goals of the school. Specifically, The Athenian School recognizes that its interscholastic athletic program is an integral part of the total education program. In addition to athletic skill development, we are charged with the responsibility of instilling in our athletes proper attitudes and behaviors that reflect the ideas of citizenship, sportsmanship, and cooperation, as well as building self-discipline and self-esteem.
The Athenian School recognizes that striving to win is part of life; however, the way in which we win and lose during competition is also relevant. Athenian promotes our athletes to be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. This can only be achieved through a well-organized, goal-oriented program, conducted by cooperative leaders.

Letterman Jackets for Boys and Girls
Lettermen jackets are back — for boys and girls! The standard Athenian jacket will be black with black leather sleeves and orange trim, an orange letter “A”, your graduation year on the sleeve and your name on the front. Samples, in varying sizes, are available in Darek Cliff's office in the Main Hall to try on. Pick up an order form in Darek's office or contact Total Sports in San Ramon for the letterman jackets: Total Sports, 2085 San Ramon Valley Boulevard, San Ramon (925-743-8326).
