  Bio

  Mark was born and raised in small, rural farming communities in California's Central Valley.
  
  

  Prior to Athenian, he worked for 13 years in higher education, in admissions, enrollment services and residence life. He has been working in college counseling at Athenian since 2003. He also lived on campus for 15 years, including seven years as a Dorm Parent.

   

  Mark enjoys the fact that the school puts a strong emphasis on the process of learning, in and out of the class, and seeks to develop thoughtful and engaged global citizens. As a parent of an alum, he saw firsthand how the skills our students learn through their various experiences go far beyond what is reflected on a transcript.

   

  In his free time, Mark enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring nature, watching sports, traveling, and quality time with family.

  Rebecca Munda

  Bio

  Rebecca was born and raised in San Mateo, CA. Like many in the college admissions field, Rebecca began her career in undergraduate admission as Assistant Director at her alma mater. After four years, she transitioned to the high school side and served as the College Counseling Director at an independent school in San Francisco for more than 15 years. 
  
  

  As an elected National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) Assembly Delegate and Chair of the Admission Practices for the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC), Rebecca has fought in support of all students’ access to higher education. She has been a lobbyist for educational concerns in Sacramento, and a voice for students during the recent Department of Justice investigation of NACAC that led to a consent decree to change their “Code of Ethics and Professional Practice”.
  
  Rebecca joined Athenian January of 2021 and loves working one on one with Athenian students. They are personable, open-minded and their intellectual curiosity is through the roof! Rebecca spends much of her free time at home supporting her son’s Lego builds and racking up her steps in pursuit of a weekly FitBit hustle win!

  Keane Tarrosa

  Bio

  Keane was born and raised in Southern California, where he attended college and began his career in college admissions.

  
  

  He always appreciated reading applications from Athenian students while in admissions (as far as he was concerned, any students who survived a 26 day wilderness adventure seemed more than prepared to tackle college), and he jumped at the chance to join the community and College Counseling Office this past year. Athenian’s emphasis on experiential learning and the community’s interest in engaging with the world beyond campus help develop students that Keane enjoyed admitting when he was on the college-side of the desk and is even more thrilled to work with now that he's here. 

  
  

  Outside of work, you can often find Keane scouring the greater East Bay area for opportunities to play tennis or basketball, deliberating over which Trader Joe’s snacks to purchase, or attempting to stay caught up on movie and tv releases. He’s quickly come to love life up in the Bay and is always on the hunt for new places to try, so please send any recs his way!
