What is the best thing about Athenian?

I would say it’s the people, especially the faculty. All the people who come here are extremely enthusiastic about learning and you can tell that your peers and teachers really want to see you grow. There are also really strong connections made here because it's such a small environment. I would say that everyone knows each other and is nice to everyone.

What are you involved in on campus?

I am currently on the Varsity Track and Field team and hold a couple of records for the school. I also am on the Cross Country team where I help with team management, which is mostly planning workouts and doing spreadsheets. I’m also the leader of the LGBTQIA Affinity Group and I’m also a member of MRAS (Mixed Race Affinity Space), a member of Philosophy Club, our Mock Trial Team, and the Gender Equity Coalition. When I first came to Athenian, I wasn't really confident in who I was and a lot of the groups on campus have really helped me sort out my identity and helped me feel more comfortable in it. I think through talking to other people in a mentorship role I realized a lot of things about myself. It’s also nice to help others in this process because I've experienced a lot of similar things.
