What is your favorite Athenian tradition?
My favorite tradition is March Term. Athenian has a strong emphasis on experiential learning, and March Term is really when this comes to life. We don’t attend classes during this time but choose a class that focuses on one topic and we get to do a lot of hands-on activities. I did Upcycling last year where we learned about how fast fashion clothing affects the environment. We learned how to sew, and we brought a lot of our old clothing in and made a bunch of cool things. I made a couple tote bags out of jeans and a bucket hat.
What is your favorite class?
My favorite class is World History with Marty Rubio. To this day, I still say that I’ve never learned more than I did in Marty’s class. I never liked history before, but in his class we were doing hands-on activities and it was engaging. Instead of just memorizing facts and taking multiple choice tests we would do debates and trials.
