Library Parent Resources

The Library maintains a special collection of parenting and professional development books and other media. Topics of interest in this significant collection include education, child development, teen parenting and special parenting needs. These books might include information on raising healthy teens, addressing challenging issues, understanding social pressures, college admission and gap year programs, teaching and learning styles, adolescent brain and behavior research, and multiculturalism and diversity. Books are available to the Athenian community for checkout

Waiting on a long list at your local library for that bestseller? The Athenian Library is likely to have what you’re looking for in the Bestsellers or other sections. Looking for a recent educational or documentary film? Look for it in our DVD collection.

The Athenian parent community is an integral part of the Library program as Library patrons and volunteers. Over 20 parent volunteers work 2-hour shifts each week supporting many aspects of the Library program. If parents are interested in volunteering they may contact the Library Director.

Birthday Book Club

Each year during school registration, parents are invited to sign up to donate a book in honor of their child's birthday. During the month of their birthday, students receive an invitation to select a new book for the Library collection. A personalized bookplate is then placed in the book selected. Funds raised from this campaign help to further enrich our collection development.
