Summit Seekers is filled with engaging activities that will give your child an unforgettable summer. Campers will participate in age-appropriate games, arts and crafts, non-competitive sports and outdoor activities. Led by credentialed teachers, morning campers will experience creative problem-solving activities connected to the session theme.
From 9:00 AM to lunch time, full day and morning campers will be inspired by our awesome camp directors. In a safe setting, campers will be grouped by age with a dedicated credentialed teacher, camp counselors and caring counselors-in-training (CIT).
Lunch is served at 12:00 PM. Half day campers are welcome to join us for lunch. Please note the above times for pick-up and/or drop-off.
Full day and afternoon campers have the opportunity to swim during open pool time, enjoy an outdoor activity, and each week campers will go on a field trip. Afternoon campers have the option of not attending the field trips. Please note, if you sign-up to NOT attend the field trips, your camper will have a shortened week, Monday-Thursday.
Campers can have a customized schedule by adding Breakfast, Private Swim Lessons, transportation, or classes for an additional fee. Be sure to click on the summer schedule to see what classes we will be offering this summer.
Session 1 Theme: Jedi Academy
In this session, campers will use the force to become guardians of the galaxy. Our Jedi’s will blast off on a high-flying mission to voyage throughout the galaxy. Jedi’s will prepare for their trip to space by designing and building a Starfighter out of straws. They will learn about the galaxy as they make moonscapes and star inspired art. Our Jedi’s will examine the tools used to study the night sky as well as the various types of vehicles used to explore the deepest parts of the galaxy.
Activities include making glow stick lightsabers, folded flyers, papier-mache planets, constellation replicas, Wookie cookies, and Yoda Soda, pin the lightsaber on the Jedi, and an egg drop competition to test out planetary reentry methods.
Session 2 Theme: Mysteries of Nature
Put on your detective hat because session two campers will be discovering many of nature’s mysteries on The Athenian School campus. Science concepts will be introduced in a fun environment that includes crafts, games, and even some edible activities.
Campers will spend time outdoors and have a great time observing nature while using tools like magnifying lenses and binoculars. Our nature detectives will probe into some of nature’s mysteries and problem solve to separate fact from fiction. As nature scientists, campers will understand more about the world around them and the science of nature itself.
Activities include dissecting owl pellets, an edible rock cycle study, water color agate slices, a study of animals while making animal masks and hats, rock candy, and a study of the northern lights.
