Your Gift Matters

Since the school’s founding in 1965, Athenian has been generously supported by our community of parents, alumni, alumni parents, trustees, grandparents, and friends.

Philanthropy plays a critical role in providing the excellence of a unique, experiential Athenian education. While tuition provides a financial base, your gifts provide the needed support to ensure an intellectually engaging and challenging curriculum that prepares students for a life of intellectual exploration and meaningful contribution.

    The Annual Fund
A student’s experience is enhanced through gifts to the Annual Fund, as tuition alone does not cover the cost of an Athenian education.

Gifts We Live By

Every fall, members of the school community join together in support of the Annual Fund, our foundational fundraising priority. The Annual Fund is critical to bridging the gap between tuition revenue and the school’s operating budget each year. Annual Fund contributions provide flexible dollars for immediate use and student-centered priorities. Gifts support our inspired and passionate teachers, financial aid, small class sizes, and hands-on learning opportunities. These are the gifts we live by.

Making a gift is a powerful way to participate in the community, and to show that we’re all in it together, for Athenian, and for each other. All gifts matter.

Gifts to the Annual Fund support a number of ongoing priorities, including:
  • Innovative programs
  • Talented and committed faculty
  • Student financial aid
  • Challenging and integrated curriculum

  • Making Your Gift Last a Lifetime

The Athenian endowment is comprised of more than 30 named endowment funds, most established to honor a family member or friend.

Gifts We Grow By

Athenian has always been a forward-looking school. We seek to prepare our students for the world beyond Athenian and for lives of meaningful contributions. Gifts to the endowment are one way we keep the future at front of mind. Increasing our endowment is an ongoing priority.

Athenian’s endowment is currently comprised of more than 30 individual funds. These funds are held in long-term investments with the principal remaining untouched, allowing the gifts to grow and have a greater impact over time. A portion of the interest earnings are used each year for strategic initiatives or donor-designated priorities. In this way, endowment gifts are usually significant and transformative in nature, ensuring the school’s well-being for future generations.

Typically endowment fund gifts are restricted for a specific purpose determined by the donor and aligned with the school’s mission and priorities.
