  • A Comprehensive Program

    Devoted to Student Development
In an ever-changing college admissions environment, our office goals wholeheartedly reflect the Athenian mission of “preparing students for the rigorous expectations of college and for a life of purpose and personal fulfillment.”

We offer a comprehensive college counseling program devoted to developing in our students the confidence and skills required to meet the complexities of their futures. In conjunction with the advisory program and Maia Learning (our college planning and student engagement software), the Athenian college counseling team offers a curriculum for grades 9-12 that promotes self-exploration through assessments, career exploration, goal-setting, and portfolio building. We host more than 180 college admission officers on our campus every year.

Comprehensive 9th-12th Grade Preparation

Ready for College

One-hundred percent of Athenian students who apply to four-year schools are admitted. Students have attended schools in more than 30 states and multiple countries. The institutions they attend range from small liberal arts colleges and arts conservatories to large public universities and esteemed institutes of technology.

When they get to college, Athenian graduates are ready for the challenges that this new phase of life presents. Athenian and its programs are recognized and admired across the globe and our students are lauded for their academic preparedness, interpersonal skills and public engagement. They are exceptionally well prepared for the academic demands of a college education and continue to enrich and improve their college communities.

    • Facilitating a reflective, thoughtful, and individualized college counseling experience
    • Advising with an emphasis on collaboration, ethical behavior, and a focus on process rather than placement

    • Aligns with the student’s academic profile, personal interests, qualities of character, and financial fit
    • Is approached with a realistic lens that reflects balance, intention, and integrity

    • Take ownership and responsibility for the demands of the process
    • Thoroughly explore the vast options available to them
    • Conduct quality research, and communicate openly
    • Remain organized, curious, and open-minded
  • We want our students to:

    • Engage in and enjoy their high school experience

College Reps

Thank you for your patience while we finalized our process for offering visits this fall. Please register for virtual day visits with The Athenian School via Maia Learning. Our students are looking forward to connecting with you!

If you have questions, please contact Ellen Bull: ebull@athenian.org | 925-362-7235
Our priorities will not be fully realized in a year or two, and maybe not even five. We are, however, committed to moving boldly toward our vision for the school, one that fulfills our promise to each generation through a curriculum that is dynamic, experiential and relevant, and a culture that supports a deep sense of belonging and shared commitment to our founding pillars and diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice (DEIS).
