  • What is the search timeline?

    The process for selecting an interim head is usually 10 weeks. Our goal is to begin first-round interviews in March 2022 for a July 1 start date.

  • What is the role of the Search Committee?

    The Search Committee is responsible for selecting the search consultant and for interviewing candidates. With the goal of identifying the best possible match for Athenian, they will then recommend their top candidate to the full Board of Trustees.

  • What is the role of the Board of Trustees?

    Identifying, hiring, supporting, and evaluating the school’s leader is one of the most important responsibilities of an independent school board of trustees. The Search Committee will recommend a final candidate to the full Board of Trustees who will then make the final decision by vote.

  • Who are the search consultants?

    The Athenian School is partnering with Storbeck Search for the Interim Head of School search. Storbeck’s Educational Practice team completed more than 200 interim head of school, head of school, and other school leadership position searches for independent schools in 2021.The search consultants are Sherry Coleman and Nishant Mehta, bios below.
