Get to know your APA President and Board at an all-parent welcome webinar followed by smaller parent gatherings for each grade. These virtual events will kick-off with a welcome webinar after which we will break into smaller grade-level zoom sessions hosted by grade representative parent volunteers. Zoom instructions will be provided in the August 28 Weekly.
You and your student are invited to learn about colleges, meet with college representatives and learn helpful tips about the college application process. All upper school students and parents are encouraged to attend.

Mark Lukach will give updates on how the year is going for the class, along with a description of the support systems in place for 9th Grade. Amy Wintermeyer will describe the process for mid-term evaluations, parent/advisor conferences, and semester end assessments. We will also be happy to answer any questions or discuss any specific issues or concerns you might have – now that you and your student have gotten their “feet wet” in the academic year.
All parents of Athenian students are welcome to join a socially distanced hike. For our kick-off walk, we will meet at the Lafayette Reservoir for a lovely 3 mile (~50 min) walk. We will provide a Sign-up Genius to parents so they are able to join staggered start times to accommodate small groups. We thank you in advance for wearing masks and remaining 6ft apart. If you have any questions, please email apawalks@gmail.com. Look for a sign-up link as we get closer to the date!
Becky Cebula and Amy Wintermeyer will talk about the academic structure and possible stressors of the year for 10th graders, as well as provide an overview of all support systems the school has in place.
The APA, in partnership with the DEI Taskforce, will host a virtual event in support of our community’s commitment to anti-racism and social justice. This event combines our usual fall CES and Equity and Inclusion Night events. We will be joined by race and gender equity advocate, educator, and speaker, Dr. Connie Wun, and Athenian faculty member, musician/artist, and social justice activist, Sanjev deSilva. This event is open to all members of the Athenian community.
The APA will host a follow-on conversation with Kalyan Balaven, Director of Teaching and Learning, to hear more about the school’s goals and efforts around anti-racism work this school year.
