Environmental Explorers Camp: San Francisco

Grade: 6-8
Cost: $1,300
Schedule: 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Description:
If you love nature, hiking, exploring and being outside, then this is the camp for you! Attitude, motivation, and an interest in the outdoors are the keys to success in this camp.  Our goal is to develop in campers the enjoyment of the outdoors, the desire to return to the outdoors in their own lives, and concern for the continual preservation of the wilderness for future generations.

Environmental Explorers camp will introduce 6-8th graders to some of The Athenian School’s key values: environmentalism, leadership, adventure and service. Campers will engage in fun activities on Athenian’s beautiful campus, as well as take multiple field trips to local Bay Area nature spaces, all while learning about environmental sustainability, local ecosystems, land histories, and their relationship to the land. Some activities will include: scavenger hunts, geocaching, nature photography, service projects, and an ongoing nature journal/scrapbook to keep as a memento of their camp experience. Campers will also have the opportunity to swim on non-field trip days in the afternoon–please bring a swimsuit, towel and sunscreen.
More logistics on field trip dates and locations will be communicated to registered families closer to the start date of camp. Transportation and snacks are provided for all field trips, but campers must bring a bagged lunch for off-campus trip dates. While on campus, lunch is provided and cost is included in the fee for camp registration. There are no overnight camping trips for this camp.
