Keenan Wyrobek ’99 was recently featured on National Geographic’s Chasing Genius series and on CNN for his remarkable work getting medical supplies to previously unreachable parts of the world.
Keenan developed a drone-operated delivery system which sends urgent medicine to patients no matter where they live. Health workers can order medical supplies like blood by text message from Zipline, Keenan’s organization; within minutes, a drone takes off and medical products are delivered safely by parachute within a half hour of the order being placed. Zipline, one of Keenan’s several service-oriented tech startups, has raised nearly $50 million in funding for its innovative, humanitarian, life-saving projects and has delivered thousands of units of blood saving countless lives.
