Instructor
Dr. Lizette Ortega Dolan has been performing and creating movement nearly all of her life. As did many children, she trained in ballet, tap, and jazz - except she never stopped. Lizette graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a double major in History and Dance, along with minors in Education and Drama, danced while at Harvard earning her Master's in Teaching and Curriculum and a teaching credential in dance. She has performed and choreographed professionally in Bay Area companies since 2002. Her dance education and performance experience prior to CAL was ballet, salsa, tango, jazz, tap, and musical theater. While at CAL, she gained a deep understanding of and appreciation for modern dance, specifically Graham and Cunningham, not only as art forms, but as solid foundations from which she continues to base her own technique. She's taught multiple forms of dance to children and adults consistently since 1998 and produced, directed, and performed dance, theater, and spoken word extensively.
