Transportation

We provide two different bus routes during the summer, and we will offer the following schedule and costs as noted:

Session 1: No transportation program due to short number of program days
Session 2: Blue and Red line offered: $70 (each way)
Session 3: Blue line ONLY offered: $70 (each way)
- Each sibling is 50% off the above prices

Your child must be pre-registered to ride the bus through our registration system. Transportation is an “add on” in our system, and families can sign up for morning transportation, afternoon transportation, or both. We do not offer bus transportation after lunch. The bus route can be found here.

Our school buses are the big yellow buses and will read “The Athenian School” on the side. If registration for transportation is low, we may be using our white 16-person school vans (with the school’s logo on the side). A daily safety inspection is performed on each vehicle. All drivers are certified school bus drivers and as such, follow all state and federal driving regulations. All school buses are equipped with cell phones.

Afternoon Bus Drop-off: PLEASE inform the Athenian Summer team by email if your child will NOT be utilizing the PM bus system. It is critical that we are informed in advance regarding who needs to be on the bus to go back home each day. If a parent or authorized pickup person is not at a bus stop at drop off time, your child will be brought back to The Athenian School and brought to extended care.

Morning Bus Pick-up: If a child is not present at the bus stop for the morning pick-up, the driver will leave to make it to the next stop on time with the campers who are present. You do not need to call the school if you will be absent and therefore, not taking the bus on any particular day—if your child is not present, the driver will assume that you are not planning to use the bus on that day. We work with our drivers to ensure that they do NOT leave before the designated time listed, unless it has been communicated with families beforehand.

What if my camper misses the bus?
If your camper misses the morning pick-up bus due to being late, we are not able to return to pick them up. You will be responsible for getting your child to the Athenian campus.

If your camper misses the afternoon bus to return home, we always have supervisor staff on campus who are ready to drive your camper to their designated bus stop. We will ensure your camper gets to the bus stop.
