What is your favorite Athenian tradition?
My favorite tradition that I’ve taken part of is the annual club faire. The reason why is because I love Athenian’s emphasis on community, and I feel like the club faire is where you can see all of these other communities start to take shape. I love seeing all the club leaders get together and try to get the new freshmen into their clubs. Another part that I love is hanging around the affinity group space. You’ll see kids go “oh there’s an Asian student union? I didn’t know about that” and that’s already a community that they can get into within the first few weeks of school. It’s a great way for new students and returning students to build support networks that they might not have even known existed. Both of the years that I’ve been to the club faire I’ve absolutely loved it, there’s a great “community aura” here.
What advice would you give to a student thinking about coming to Athenian?
I think that if you come to Athenian and you see the "bring your own device" line, please follow everything on that page, or get very well acquainted with your computer. If you don’t download all the stuff you were told to or you don’t take care of your stuff it will come back to bite you. We have such great technology and IT support staff, so open to help you and I’ve personally gone there like 5 times. Every single time I've gotten exactly what I needed. Don’t be afraid to reach out, go find them and they’ll help and make all the difference.
