  • Dance Workout with Mindfulness

    Cost: $290 (includes t-shirt)
    Instructor: Jackie Soohoo, Director of Summer and After School Enrichment
    Grades: 5-8

    Let’s move and flow! Dance is one of the funnest ways to get your body moving, while building coordination skills, body awareness and confidence. Our class will have a great time dancing to Hip Hop and Latine sounds (similar to Zumba), while also spending time learning about mindfulness concepts such as: non-judgement, anxiety management, gratitude and body awareness. Young people approaching their teenage years begin feeling self-conscious about their bodies and comparing themselves to others. We will spend time embracing who we are, how we move, what we look like, and having fun!

    Jackie is the Director of Summer and After School Enrichment Programs at The Athenian School and loves dancing, facilitating moments of joy and laughter, and seeing young people grow social-emotionally.

  • Laser Cut Art Projects in the Carter Innovation Studio

    Cost: $460 (includes t-shirt)
    Instructor: Kristen Calderon
    Grades: 4-8

    Have you ever created art using a laptop and a laser? In this class, students will learn Adobe programs to create art with our Laser Cutter in Athenian’s Carter Innovation Studio. Whether with cardboard, acrylic or plywood, our Instructor will plan fun activities that will allow students to build real skills with our shop machines, while exercising their creativity. Come join this class to make projects uniquely yours to bring home. No previous experience required.

    We are delighted for Kristen C. to return to Athenian Programs and share her talents as both an artist and caring teacher.

  • Woodworking - Modern Marquetry

    Cost: $435 (includes t-shirt)
    Instructor: Maryam Khatibi
    Grades: 5-7

    Marquetry is the ancient art of creating beautiful patterns and designs in wood. This class will use modern methods to teach you how to use a coping saw, various shades of wood, and your creativity to create decorative patterns and stunning pieces of art.

    Maryam is a talented local artist and educator who has previously brought her woodworking art skills to Athenian's Summer Camp Program.

  • Baking Fun

    Cost: $365 (includes t-shirt)
    Instructor: Athenian Upper School Enrichment Leader Frankie C.
    Grades: 5-8

    Cookies! Cakes, ice cream and more! Do you love baking? We do too! Join us for this fun baking class where we’ll not only bake delicious sweet goodies but also learn about the history and origin of our baked goods and create our own recipe books. We’ll also cover some introductory entrepreneurship concepts, such as cost and profit in a bakery business. You’re sure to have fun and become more confident with your baking skills through this class.

    Athenian Student After School Enrichment Leaders apply to teach in our program, and complete training where they learn the basics of lesson planning, facilitation skills, youth engagement and materials management. Throughout the Winter Enrichment session they will have support from the After School Enrichment team as needed. They are thrilled to offer this course to Athenian and non-Athenian younger students.


  • DIY Arts: Jewelry, Crocheting, Tie Dye and More

    Cost: $345 (includes t-shirt)
    Instructor: Athenian Upper School Enrichment Leaders, Maya B., and Izzy K.
    Grades: 5-8

    Join us for this fun and crafty student-led enrichment class! You'll learn from current Athenian Upper students to make Do-it-Yourself art projects to take home, such as: crochet toys, jewelry pieces and tie-dye clothes--plus more projects tailored to your choice. Our Student Instructors say their hope is that students can take home their creations and "enjoy the feeling of accomplishment of making something by hand. They'll feel more confident in their own abilities and eager to try new things." We hope you join us!

  • Threaded Creations: Embroidery Designs and More!

    Cost: $345 (includes t-shirt)
    Instructor: Athenian Upper School Enrichment Leader, Levi K.
    Grades: 5-8

    Join us for an exciting class full of needlework and self-expression! Students will learn from a current Athenian Upper School student about this creative and inventive medium of art. They will learn a variety of embroidery stitches, improve their sewing skills, and learn how to use embroidery to customize their clothing. Embroidery isn't just about sewing; it's about expressing yourself through your designs and getting creative with your work. We hope you'll join us!
