What has been your favorite class at Athenian and why?
My favorite class was called Justice for All. We learned about the justice system and the flaws it has, and how it can be pitted against certain people. It was my favorite class because we got to speak with people who were affected by the justice system, but also people who are actively involved in the justice system. For example we met a case worker who handles people on parole. Then in the end of the year we got to come up with our own ballot initiative that fixes a flaw in the system. I worked to fix the disproportionate number of children of color that are tried as adults opposed to children not of color who are tried as adults. I thought that it was a really cool class that I would never get anywhere else.

What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place is the unofficial “senior space” with couches and places to hang out. It’s my favorite place because I’ve been able to connect with people that I haven’t talked to previously. We do work there during free periods, and collaborate with other people sitting next to us. It's something that I don’t think our grade had before because of COVID and online school.
