The DelMontes: We Believe in Giving Back

Having our daughter love school is an amazing gift. We had looked at other private schools in the Bay Area, but we were impressed with the students that we met at Athenian. They were humble, articulate, confident, and enjoyed being at the School. They talked about the challenging programs, the engaging approach to learning, and the community service work they were doing to help others.
We choose to give to Athenian because our daughter is enjoying her experience at the School and the value of the education she is receiving is so high. We didn’t want to raise Justine in a bubble. We wanted her to experience different cultures and ways of thinking.

Athenian has a strong commitment to scholarships. This in-turn increases diversity at the school. We realize that the amount of financial aid that Athenian gives would not be possible without additional funding from donors. Diversity is very important to us and we wanted to do our part to support that. We understand that donations contribute to all the programs that make Athenian so special.

Our family believes that it is very important to give back. Beyond giving to Athenian, we are active in doing community service through Girl Scouts. We also support a number of health, women’s, and animal welfare organizations. Giving back is important to us as a family, and our daughter, Justine, is always helping people. For example, every year for her birthday she gives food to the homeless. She also has developed an education app called Drew Meets Boo; the proceeds go to various nonprofit organizations.

We believe that when you give back, it inspires others. We love that giving back is celebrated at Athenian and is a part of the culture of the school. We are so proud to be an Athenian family.
